European investors
ETF Name | ISIN | Assets under Management (Q4'21) | Fees | Currency | Custodian (i.e. where the physical gold is located) |
Invesco Physical Gold ETC | IE00B579F325 | $14.1b | 0.12% | USD | JP Morgan Chase in London, UK |
Xetra-Gold | DE000A0S9GB0 | $13.6b | 0.30% | EUR | Clearstream Banking AG in Germany (i.e. Germany's central securities depository) |
iShares Physical Gold ETC | IE00B4ND3602 | $12.6b | 0.12% | USD | JP Morgan Chase in London, UK |
WisdomTree Physical Swiss Gold | JE00B588CD74 | $3.6b | 0.15% | USD | JP Morgan Chase in Zurich, Switzerland |
There are ETFs with slightly more assets under management than the Wisdom Tree Physical Swiss Gold ETF, but it’s the largest ETF with a Custodian located in Switzerland. We generally prefer the Custodian holding the physical Gold in Switzerland.
