Flavors & Fragrances - Peer Group
The Big Four are the dominant global leaders in the Flavors & Fragrances (F&F) industry. Together they control the majority of the global market and serve as the primary peer set for valuation multiples, margin analysis, growth benchmarking, and competitive intelligence. They operate in the same B2B space, creating and supplying flavors and fragrances for food & beverage, personal care, home care, and fine fragrance segments. They share high barriers to entry, strong pricing power, IP-driven moats, and similar long-term growth profiles driven by emerging market expansion, naturals, and premiumization trends. This group is the standard reference used across equity research for the F&F sector.

Flavors & Fragrances - Price Performance
Excerpt from the 10-K from International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (IFF) as of 2025-12-31:
Competition
[...] The market for our products is highly competitive. Our main competitors consist of (1) other large global companies, such as Givaudan, Novonesis, DSM-Firmenich, Symrise, Kerry, and ADM, (2) mid-sized companies, (3) numerous regional and local manufacturers and (4) consumer product companies who may develop their own competing products.
Although IFF’s 10-K lists Novonesis (NSIS-B.CO), Kerry Group (KYGA.IR), and ADM (ADM) among its large global competitors, these companies are excluded from our F&F peer group. Novonesis is a biosolutions/enzymes leader whose flavor-related activities are limited to microbial processing aids rather than direct flavor and fragrance creation. Kerry and ADM operate in far broader food ingredients, taste & nutrition, and agribusiness portfolios, where F&F represents only a secondary division. The Big Four remain the pure-play leaders best suited for valuation multiples, margin, and growth benchmarking in the flavors & fragrances sector.
